Brief Introduction
A Butterfly valve is an on-off valve or a shut-off valve. Butterfly valves are quarter turnvalves with a straight through flow configuration. For large sizes butterfly valves offer savings in weight,space and cost over other types of valves.
The disc is lighter than a ball, and the valve requires less structural support than a ballvalve of comparable diameter. Butterfly valves are very precise, which makes them advantageous in industrial applications. They are quite reliable and require very little maintenance.
